Photos from our trip to Space Place.

So much to see and learn. Fantastic opportunities for "hands-on" learning!

Exploring the sun.
We saw a ball that represented the sun.
How big is the Earth compared to the sun?
We enjoyed learning about the planets.

How far from the sun are these planets?

Neptune was so far away that Bella had to
leave the room.

How far is the moon from Earth?

We chose our rocket and blasted off into space.

Welcome to Term 2!

TERM 2:

A belated welcome to Term 2. As some of you will know I had an extra 8 days holiday visiting my daughter who is, at present, living and working in Japan. It was a lovely holiday but it was also lovely to come back and have such a warm welcome home from the students in Room 13.

It is looking like being a super busy term. This week we visited the Hutt Library on Tuesday and today was our school cross country at Sladden Park. I was very proud of the attitude and involvement of everyone in our class. Luckily the weather co-operated too!

Cross country photos.
Morning tea.

Everything ready for the start of races.

So lucky with the sunshine.

Some Year 3 girls celebrating their achievements.

These Year 4 girls were very happy with their efforts.

Maths and Science-Hands on learning!

Great fun with Bee-Bots today!

A great hands on Maths and Science lesson today.  We used all sorts of strategies finding out how to programme the robots with the correct co-ordinates so they would end up in the right position.  Also lots of skills were involved in taking turns, working in a group, encouraging others and sharing skills.

Learning and having fun!
Where could the treasure be?

Have I put in the right instructions?

We really need to work as a team to get this right.

Yes success!

Our group can use 2 Bee-Bots together. This was a very co-operative group.

Now to send 2 Bee-Bots out on the road together!

Deciding on some strategies.

Working it out as a team.
